Twisty Tale of Real Estate

Shyam: Listen, I need you to find me a good property. I want a holiday home where my family can relax, unwind, and enjoy some peace and quiet.

Real Estate Agent: Sir, say no more! I will find you exactly what you need. Quiet, nature, mountains and, most importantly, a place where your investment will double.

Shyam: Sounds perfect. Do your research and let me know. I’ll come and visit the place.

Real Estate Agent: Sir, why wait? Let’s go tomorrow and inspect the site.

The next day, they arrive.

Shyam: Wow! This place is absolutely perfect. So peaceful. So quiet. Just what I wanted.

He takes a deep breath and looks at the mountains.

Shyam: I hope you’ve done thorough research on the area - any problems, issues, hidden surprises?

Real Estate Agent: Of course, sir! I have done extensive research. You can close your eyes and invest in this property.

Shyam: Excellent. Let’s close the deal. I’ll buy the house and the land.

One Month Later…

Shyam and his family arrive at their beautiful new holiday home for a relaxing weekend.

They are immediately welcomed by a battalion of mosquitoes.

As night falls, the family goes to bed.

Awoooooooo!

One dog starts howling.

Then another joins.

Then another.

Shyam closes the windows.

He closes the curtains.

He puts a pillow over his head.

Awoooooooo!

Nobody sleeps a wink.

He calls the real estate agent the next morning.

Shyam: You never told me there were so many dogs here! And that they howl the entire night!

Real Estate Agent: Sir, please calm down. Look at these technical charts, market reports, investment projections, appreciation curves and extensive research I have done on this location.

Shyam: What is the use of all your charts and research if you don't know the most important thing?

Real Estate Agent: What is that, sir?

Shyam: How the hell do you sleep here?

You can calculate appreciation, study market trends, analyse infrastructure and predict property values but you forgot to check whether the neighbourhood has a 24-hour Dog FM radio station!

My investment has gone to the dogs.

I think I’ll be better off staying in the city.

Find me a buyer for this house.

Real Estate Agent: Certainly, sir.

Shyam: And whatever you do, don't tell them about the dogs.

Real Estate Agent: The agent looks at the house, then quietly mutters to himself:

“Well… that’s exactly what the previous owner told me.”
